Due to generations of adaptations to its desert surroundings, Yazd has a unique Persian architecture. Here you can see examples of bâdgir, or windcatchers, used to create natural ventilation and passive cooling in buildings, with usage dating back to the Achaemenid Empire. In the city of Yazd, all windcatchers have four or eight sides. Bring a piece of the desert to your home!
